PlateMath is a mobile-first strength training log and barbell calculator designed for fast gym-floor operation. It replaces complex menus with rapid input methods—such as a plain-text pad format that lets you create and log new exercises instantly—and an interactive visual timeline that automatically organizes your training into macro, meso, and micro cycles alongside fatigue analytics.

Fast Input & Set Logging

  • Custom Keypad: Dedicated number pad designed for one-thumb gym operation, allowing direct entry of weight, reps, RIR (reps in reserve — repetitions remaining before muscular failure, from 0 to 4), and performance ratings (1 to 5).
  • Quick Unit Switching: Instantly toggle input units between pounds (LBS), kilograms (KG), and percentage mode (%) which automatically calculates working weights directly from your active personal records.
  • Set Utilities: One-tap repeat button to copy weights, reps, and ratings from previous sets, inline steppers (+/-) for quick weight and rep nudges, and set reordering arrows.
  • Warmup Builder: Automatically generates progressive warmup sets from your target working weight. Supports Straight, Ramp, and Pyramid rep structures with customizable percentage jumps and volume multipliers.

Plain-Text Syntax & Pad Editor

  • Session-Locked Pad: Full plain-text editor for the active workout date. Write or paste a workout in seconds with automatic syntax parsing.
  • On-the-Fly Exercise Creation: Type any new movement and modifier combination (e.g., Incline DB Press Pause) directly into the pad without navigating setup screens; PlateMath dynamically parses, creates, and registers the movement, modifiers, and exercise in your catalog automatically.

    • Weight Display: Cycle timeline sets between absolute weight (WxR), percentage of 1RM (%xR), and plate count breakdown (PxR).

  • Dual Summary Modes: Displays total daily session metrics (reps, volume, sets, and muscle group distribution) or isolates historical progression for a single exercise or movement family.
  • Seven Core Metrics:
    • s1RM: Highest estimated one-rep max achieved within the session.
    • Intensity: Average load expressed as a percentage of your True Reference 1RM.
    • Effort: Average difficulty expressed as a percentage of your historical best estimated 1RM.
    • Sets and Reps: Total completed set count and rep volume.
    • Volume: Cumulative weight lifted, scaled to thousands.
    • PMI: PlateMath INOL (Intensity Number Of Lifts — an index measuring cardiovascular and neuromuscular lifting stress, scaled by 10).
  • Metric Modifiers (Superscripts):
    • Session Deltas: Displays session-over-session changes compared to the prior workout, color-coded for positive and negative progression.
    • Daily Dose: Displays frequency-normalized accumulation rates (sets/day, reps/day, volume/day, and PMI/day) divided across the days elapsed between training sessions.

Movement Management & Fractional Volume Counting

  • Base Movements & Modifiers: Organize exercises under foundational movement patterns (e.g., Squat, Bench Press, Deadlift) and customize them with mechanical modifiers (grip, stance, equipment, tempo).
  • Fractional Volume Counting: Base movements credit a full set (+1.0) to primary muscle targets. Modifiers apply mechanical bias (+0.5 sets for disadvantage variations that increase muscular loading, -0.5 sets for advantage variations) to split volume accurately across secondary muscle groups.
  • Compound & Isolation Filtering: Separate systemic compound stress from localized single-joint exercises.

Personal Records, Training Eras, & Strength Scoring
